PROJECT RED TEAM Start a conversation
Where we fit

We are the release gate, not another model vendor

Most of the tools in this field sell model access, purchased data, or a finished report. Project Red Team does something different: we make an economic claim survive public, lender, and adversarial review, including IMPLAN, RIMS II, or REMI output when that output is part of the record. We do not replace these tools, and we do not claim to match their numbers. We audit what they produce, disclose what they can and cannot support, and govern the language a study builds around them.

How the tools in this field actually differ

Each of the tools below does real, useful work, and each one sells something specific: model access, purchased multipliers, forecasting software, labor-market data, or a finished report. None of them sells release discipline, the work of checking whether a specific claim, built from a specific run, holds up once a skeptical reader gets to it. That is the gap Project Red Team fills. We can sit downstream of any of these tools, on the same study, without displacing what they do.

Comparison of economic-impact and site-selection tools with what each sells and how Project Red Team works alongside it.
Tool What it sells How Project Red Team works with it
IMPLAN Accessible economic-impact modeling: jobs, income, output, and tax effects from a region's own input-output structure. We audit IMPLAN studies for leakage assumptions, geography fit, data vintage, and claim language, and we can incorporate IMPLAN output into a governed record alongside the rest of the evidence.
RIMS II (BEA) Purchased regional multipliers from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, built at the region level a project orders. We use RIMS II where a project has supplied an order, apply it at the region level that order covers, and disclose its limits. We do not claim county-by-county RIMS results from a multi-county or state-level order.
REMI / Tax-PI Dynamic scenario forecasting, modeling how a policy or project plays out over time, including fiscal and state-budget effects. We govern the claims a REMI run produces, checking each one against the evidence record before it reaches a board memo or public document.
Chmura JobsEQ / Lightcast Labor-market intelligence: occupational demand, wages, skills, and talent-pipeline data. We use labor-market data as evidence supporting a study's claims. We do not resell it or present it as our own dataset.
ArcGIS Business Analyst / Placer.ai / Buxton Site selection tools: trade-area definition, foot-traffic measurement, and customer-profile matching. We use trade-area and foot-traffic signals inside a location decision, and we audit the capture-rate and displacement assumptions built on top of them before a siting call goes out the door.
Camoin / Impact DataSource Impact, fiscal, and incentive analysis, delivered as a finished consulting report. We audit these reports for what survives review before a board quotes them, checking claim language, source traceability, and where the evidence stops.

Where we fit

Project Red Team is the release gate that sits on top of a study, whichever tool produced the underlying model. That means a claim inventory listing every number a document asserts, source traceability back to where each figure came from, a record of missing evidence instead of a filled-in gap, release gates a claim has to clear before it ships, a board memo written for the room that will hear it, a reviewer pack for the party that will push back, and the discipline to refuse a claim that does not hold, even a favorable one. This work supplements and audits IMPLAN, RIMS II, REMI, and the rest of the tools above; it does not compete with what they model or try to reproduce their numbers independently. The review is human-reviewed and analyst-led, and it is built for a rural interior-West record that has to hold up in front of a council, a lender, or an opposing party, not just in front of a spreadsheet.

Have a study built on IMPLAN, RIMS II, or REMI that needs to hold up in the room? Tell us what tool produced it and what claims it makes, and we will lay out what a governed release takes.
